I was smitten within five minutes of talking with Becca! I fell completely in love with her and the incredible love story she + Ben share. The couple met in April 2007 in Kathmandu, Nepal, at the beginning of a trek to the Base Camp of Mount Everest. Becca was traveling alone and met Ben’s father at the Kathmandu airport. Ben’s father immediately recognized Becca as someone he must introduce to his son – and he did! The couple spent a day together in Kathmandu getting to know each other, but they parted for their respective treks without plans to ever see each other again.
Though a second encounter was never planned, Becca + Ben randomly crossed paths on three occasions on their way to Base Camp. The final meeting resulted in plans to spend the summer traveling together before they both departed to law school. With Becca at Stanford and Ben at Yale, Becca transferred after their first year of law school and they moved to Washington, D.C. upon graduation.
Becca + Ben took a brief trip to Iceland this January and when the Northern Lights appeared on their first night there, Ben proposed. Becca said yes!
Their story makes me giddy and I feel so lucky to be a part of their very special day. Congrats, B + B – I can’t wait to share in the joy on Sunday! xo-Kate

Special thanks to Anne Robert for the adorable photo
Street food has become an increasingly popular trend among DC foodies. Gone are the days of the simple hot dog cart. Today you can find everything from Korean, to Mexican, to Cuban and Indian – even Sweetgreen (a personal fave) is in on the action with Sweetflow Mobile! With growing popularity and increasingly unique options, why not have your favorite street food vendor arrive curbside at your reception?! I’m thrilled to be working with District Taco for an upcoming spring wedding! These ever-yummy treats will be offered to guests as a late night snack from their adorable street cart in honor of the groom’s Mexican heritage and the couple’s love for the little eatery. Can’t wait! XO – Kate

Being a lover of all things sweet and pretty packaging, I’m partial to edible favors. From homemade jams and whoopie pies (even better with milk!) to smores and mini breakfast baskets, these treats are sure to make your guests smile. Enjoy! xo- Jessica

I attended a birthday party last weekend (always love being a guest!) and was so excited to learn that Pinkberry would be served for dessert. Made my day! I’m happy to share that Pinkberry now caterers weddings and special events. What a perfect addition a “Pinkberry Bar” would be for an engagement party, bridal shower or as a late night treat for your wedding guests. Enjoy! xo- Jess
I’m a little obsessed with the beautiful designs of My Sweet and Saucy. The California based sweet shop specializes in modern looking desserts that “taste as good as they look.” The Sweet and Saucy site is filled with loads of eye candy and {sweet} inspiration. Sweet and Saucy recently launched an online supply shop where you can purchase the prettiest cake stands, platters and domes that I’ve seen. These lovely little pieces are enough to make me want to take up baking!
Despite the rain, it was a pretty sweet Monday. After months of swooning over her beautiful designs, I met Maggie Austin for a cake tasting. I was instantly in love with the presentation of Maggie’s tasting. So clean, pretty and dainty. Oh, and the vintage cloth napkins had me too! My two (I couldn’t pick just one) favorites were the lemon + Spanish olive oil pound cake (not a smidge of butter is used in this cake) with apricot ves + fiori di scilla buttercream and the double chocolate espresso cake with seville orange + la belle orange buttercream. Heaven! I hope you’ll be able to sample these gorgeous delights, too.
I love the month of May for so many reasons. The sunshine, my sweet hubby’s birthday, my wedding anniversary (4 years on the 20th!), Mother’s Day, farmers markets, sundresses, and peonies. Big, fluffy, beautiful peonies! My most favorite flower. There’s something about these lush, delicate, romantic blooms that make me so happy. I can’t wait for them to be sitting on my kitchen table… I’m counting the days!
I’m kind of a lover of any and all things sweet so I was thrilled when I received a special treat in the mail… DC chocolate! Apres Peau is a great little shop located on K Street where you can find all sorts of unique DC themed goodies and gifts. I especially love the signature chocolates (of course!) which have kitschy names that pay tribute to DC landmarks. What a perfect favor for a Washington, DC wedding. I’m big on edible favors… sweet ones. I’d be a happy guest if I were given a Washington Monumint or Smithsonian Salty Pretzel candy bar!
I love Paloma’s Nest ring bearer bowls. They’re such a sweet variation from the traditional satin pillow (I don’t love
). These delicate little bowls are handmade and stamped with the message of your choice. What a great keepsake for those two very special rings! You can find these little treasures on Etsy. Enjoy!
